Employer Background

With over 40 employees Innosphere is the largest information technology company in the Guelph downtown core. Innosphere staff is comprised generally of young, innovative, highly skilled, and educated people. Over 90% of staff have at least 1 university degree or college diploma. A large percentage of the staff has multiple degrees and diplomas in addition to other information technology certificates. Physical Workplace

Innosphere is located in the historical and architecturally unique Wellington building in downtown Guelph. The downtown has several excellent restaurants and cafes within short walking distance. The Innosphere cafeteria, also known as the Diana Downtown, provides a large choice of multi-cultural dishes. The Innosphere offices are comprised primarily of open concept pods to facilitate maximum collaboration between team members. The offices are decorated with paintings and photographs created by employees and their families. Free snacks and beverages are provided in the kitchen area.

Work Atmosphere

On the job employees enjoy casual business dress in a team oriented environment. Teams are self organizing allowing for increased employee empowerment and less reliance on management. Flexible work hours and telecommuting are available to accommodate personal and family needs. Core business hours are 10am to 4pm. During the year, employees gather for fun social events including Wii\Xbox tournaments, Ribfest, Painting party, Holiday party, KFC day, and Potluck days. There are also several family events throughout the year such as Family Day at the Guelph Storm, trips to African Lion Safari, and Centreville.

Financial Benefits and Compensation

Innosphere provides above average compensation for the Guelph region. Performance and salary reviews are conducted at 3 months and then annually there afterwards. Top performers receive accelerated pay increases for exceptional performance. Managers are eligible for annual performance bonuses. Staff are eligible for overtime pay when working beyond regular hours. The Innosphere employer paid group benefit plan provides 100% Dental care, Healthcare, and Vision care. Life Insurance, LTD, and Dependant Insurance are provided in addition to an employee contributed RSP.

Vacation and Personal Time Off

Vacation, Personal, and Sick days are accrued from date of hire. Employees accrue .833 vacation days per month (10 days per year) during the first 2 years, 1.0 day per month (12 days per year) after 2 years, and 1.25 days per month (15 days per year) after 5 years. Employees accrue Personal Days at a rate of 0.5 days per month (6 days per year) and may accumulate a maximum of 6 Personal Days. Employees accrue Sick Days at a rate of 0.5 days per month (6 days per year) and may accumulate a maximum of 6 Sick Days. Employees have the option of banking time or receiving overtime pay when working beyond regular hours.

Training and Skills Development

Innosphere encourages ongoing skill development and training. Books and exams for Microsoft certifications are paid for by Innosphere. Other information technology certifications are also eligible for reimbursement. Innosphere has developed an internal quality assurance certification. Employees are provided classroom and on the job training towards the certification. Innosphere provides opportunities for employees to attend conferences and other training related events. Employees have ongoing opportunities to learn new technologies as part of their daily project work.

Community Involvement

Innosphere is very involved in the local information technology community and sponsors local events such as the KWSQA Conference; DemoCamp; Coffee and Code; and the Guelph Technology Conference. Innosphere initiated the Guelph Technology Cluster and is major supporter in bringing a technology building to downtown Guelph. Innosphere sponsors local soccer teams and contributes to various charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, Terry Fox Run, and the Ontario March of Dimes. Innosphere is a member of Communitech and the Guelph Chamber of Commerce.
