Journey To The Cloud

Updated: Apr 6, 2022

If you’ve read most of our blog posts thus far, you’ll know that Innosphere has gone fully remote as a company. Though this change was mostly felt in the change of location, it also forced the Innosphere team to reevaluate the technology we were working with. For the last 25 years, Innosphere has essentially been a Microsoft-hub, but as time has evolved, so has technology, and with that being said- our team has decided to make a change, transitioning over to Amazon Web Services this year. So why make this move?

Transitioning to a fully remote company has given us a lot of freedom, so much freedom that we are no longer tied down to a physical building, meaning maintaining an entire server room isn’t necessary. This is where the cloud comes in- rather than using physical space, the cloud creates a virtual environment to load the software and services we utilize as a company. This ultimately eases the migration process for our existing applications while still preserving options for building new solutions. In addition, AWS allows you to select the operating system, programming language, web application platform, database, and other services you need.

We anticipate this move to the cloud will save our business a lot of money. The cloud uses Software as a Service (SaaS). For those who may not know, SaaS allows users to connect to and use cloud-based apps over the Internet. It provides a complete software solution that you purchase on a pay-as-you-go basis from a cloud service provider. Your organization essentially rents the licensing which allows all of your users to connect to the services through a web browser. So all of the infrastructure, middleware, app software, and app data are located in the service provider’s data center. Considering it manages the software and the hardware, the app and the data remains secure and available.

The journey doesn’t necessarily end here. We are currently in the process of transferring everything over to the cloud so that everything is with one vendor. Additionally, our team is working diligently to complete their AWS certification for each of their respective roles.

We are officially a part of the AWS Partner network. This puts us in a position to take full advantage of all that AWS has to offer, which will essentially accelerate our journey to the cloud. We are looking forward to offering services focusing on moving companies to the AWS cloud like Innosphere is doing!
