Does the Post and Pray Recruitment Method Still Work?

Updated: Apr 6, 2022

70% of the global workforce is made up of passive talent who are not actively job hunting. This means that your next hire is most likely sitting in a Recruiters network. All the more reason to outsource. So, what is outsourcing you ask? It’s when a company decides to hire an external party to complete a service that would normally be executed by the internal staff. One of the most prominent services outsourced by organizations is recruitment. In come, recruitment agencies!

Coming from an HR background myself and having to wear several hats at once, putting one to the side for a while doesn’t sound like such a bad idea. I’ve worked as both an Internal HR professional as well as a Recruiter at a recruiting firm, and I believe the idea of outsourcing recruitment makes sense at times. However, this is dependent on the size of the organization, the industry, demand, and current labour market. Let’s talk about tech specifically- I mean, it is our expertise!

The market has significantly changed over the years and employers are having a hard time attracting talent to their organizations. The competition is just too high. As an employer, you need to do more than just match qualifications with the job requirements. Tech talent needs a lot of attention, focus, and knowledge. It may be difficult for the internal HR department to paint an accurate picture of the job a candidate should anticipate. This can cause a lot of frustration and miscommunication between HR and the candidate, essentially tainting the recruitment process for both parties and result in either no job offer or, if there is a job offer, one that may not be accepted. The recruitment process is VERY important as it is the first impression a candidate has on your organization. Even with great pay, benefits, and the potential of acquiring their dream job, candidates will turn down the job if the recruitment process is anything short of pleasant. I mean, I haven’t even accepted the role and I’m already pulling my hair out? Now why would I sign up for that?

Although we know HR is fully capable of hiring your next superstar (I mean, is there anything they can’t do?), outsourcing your next tech hire may be in your best interest. It is a huge money and time saver. Although you may not realize it at first, tech recruiters really are saving you money. As mentioned earlier, the “post and pray” method no longer works. It’s not just about matching qualifications to a job posting, it’s also about finding the right fit. It’s about ensuring your next hire is aligned with your company values, has the right soft skills, and technical skills. Tech Recruiters not only understand the industry, but they also speak the same language as your candidates. This ability will allow for a free-flowing conversation between the candidate and Recruiter, giving the Recruiter the ability to leverage their knowledge and ultimately pick the right candidate for the role.

Tech recruiters also have the network. Networking is the process of developing and activating your relationships to achieve your business goals, enhance your knowledge, and expand your sphere of influence. They spend hours everyday building their network through LinkedIn, events, and even their personal circles. This not only speeds up the time spent on filling a role, but it gives the recruiters that edge of truly having a deeper understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates, resulting in a better match for the job. Since Tech recruiters are well versed in technology, they can screen potential candidates more efficiently and effectively without being misled with regards to the candidate’s skills and qualifications. This also assists the hiring manager as they can put complete confidence in the Recruiter to make the right decision.

I can confidently say this to be true about Innosphere. As a software development company hiring talent for more than 23 years, we are able to identify the best talent in the field because we are software developers first. Not only are we well versed in tech recruitment, but we have the network to show for it. When outsourcing your recruitment to Innosphere, you are essentially buying into our network that we have spent years building. So, when you are looking for that next unicorn employee, we probably already have a candidate from our pipeline in mind that would be the perfect match.

The demand for Tech professionals continues to grow as tech continues to infiltrate every aspect of our lives and companies invest in Tech. And with more organizations outsourcing recruitment than ever, the demand for Tech Recruiters also continues to grow. There is no doubt about it, hiring a tech recruitment firm can save you time, money, and effort, finding you the perfect match for your open role and organization.
